Karori Hockey Club 2009 Season
If you are looking to join a forward thinking hockey club for the 2009 season, look no further than Karori Hockey Club! 2009 looks to be an interesting season with the top Women's side retaining their place in the Premier One Grade. While playing the P1 grade presents a challenge, the side has enough dynamic and skillful players to play competitive hockey from the outset.
The top men's side plays in the Premier 2 grade will be looking to go further with the rebuilding that took place in the 2008 season. With the new recruits from 2008 and a new coach the team will be looking to repeat its efforts in 2007 when it won the Premier Two grade, and came close to joining the women in the Premier One grade. The onus on the team under its new coaching organisation will be having greater consistency of performance from a team that has the players to compete at higher levels.
The club will be looking to maintain and improve its excellent work in developing junior players so that they continue to be the foundation of the top teams in the future. A key aspect of this development will lie in the continuing ability of the club to attract and retain the quality coaches and support that are the lynchpin of any developing club.
Karori will have its Club Trials Day at the National Hockey Stadium, Mt Albert, Wellington, on Sunday 8th March. The men's team trials will be from 2.30pm until 4pm. Women's teams trials will be from 3.30pm until 5pm. The club welcomes all new and existing players, coaches, umpires and administrators.
Off the pitch, the club will have the first social and AGM of 2009 on 8 March at 6pm at 97 Maupuia Road, Miramar, Wellington. During the season, the social committee runs regular socials for both the men and women and, hopefully, we will have a lot to celebrate on these occasions.
